Personal review about Amasra Turkey

Amsara impressed me! This small town on the coast of the Black Sea has everything I want.

Amsara’s storybook scenes become reality as you stroll through the Old Town. The honey colored houses gave off a sense of a bygone era and I could almost hear them whispering stories softly in my ear from the Amasra fort.

It was much easier for my eyes to rest across the crystal clear waters of the Black Sea. The wonderful Inkekum beach and clear sea was like paradise. Besides, there were finer things in Amasra’s life. We took a boat ride to Rabbit Island where you can hike over unique rock formations and swim in peaceful coves.

Ahhh the seafood! Amsara Marina is an oasis full of fresh catches. I had oysters and fried fish which were very tasty. Every dish was a taste adventure.

Take your time and enjoy the moment. Amasara is really nice but I was missing the night life. The city cares more about being cool than staying awake before midnight. Also there were some historical sites in this place which looked like they needed little maintenance which was really disappointing.

Amsara is a charming and relaxing short getaway destination. Wherever you go in Aamasara you will smell the fresh air and calm atmosphere.

visitors review of Amasra turkey

The Amas welcomed me in the most beautiful way. Marmaris is more than a simple beach town, it owns a fascinating heritage that is deeply rooted in an ancient history with its natural beauty and simple atmosphere that will make your heart flutter.

History whispers around every corner- if you are a photography buff, the Old Town is nothing short of heaven for you. The walls of the honey-colored houses tumbled forever into the narrow streets, bougainvillea sprouting from every crevice. Wandering around, new historical gems are uncovered at every corner – like the Amsara Fort above that silently watches over the sea from its hilltop. A local owner was able to give life to some of this rich tapestry; Her small women’s museum had elements that showed how Amasra continued to nod through her Greek roots to Roman and Ottoman influences.

Black Sea Blackmagic: The sparkling waters of the Black Sea beckoned and Inkekum Beach gave me a place to lay. However, Amsara is definitely not just a beach town. A boat trip to Rabbit Island was the highlight. It was a quiet getaway, car-free and perfect for natural cliffside walks with hidden grooves (not to mention the unique rock formations). Legend holds that a pair of runaway lovers once sought refuge here, lending this tiny land its own romantic aura.

Delight the taste buds: Marina was perhaps a haven for epicurean delights. I had dish after dish of oysters, calamari and a whole plate of terrific grilled fish – it was a juicy bite bursting with deliciousness. However, the pièce de résistance was the local dish: Hamsi – small anchovies cooked in different styles. These are fried, pickled or varwan!

Best of slow travel: Amsara’s secret weapon may be its speed. The hustle and bustle of the big city has been washed away in this place. Amasra itself is one of those places where I can happily assure you that a little hacking needs to be enjoyed; Sip strong Turkish coffee on a cafe terrace, watching the sun melt into the Black Sea if not literally to the sound of gentle waves.

Minor let down: Amsara is undoubtedly beautiful, but there is nothing to do after dark. The city is about chilling, not partying at night.

Overall, Amasra is a Turkish hidden gem for the traveler who wants to get away from it all and experience the authenticity. This place is a perfect place for an escape rich in history, wonderful coves of crystal sea water combined with all kinds of coastal cuisine and a warm relaxing atmosphere.
